after losing their shot at the Pac-10 title for their mens varsity football team, the overrated OJ Mayo only put up 32 points in a 96-81 loss as the #18 team in the country fell to unranked Mercer

actually, the USC Trojans were named for the famous warriors from Troy, another ancient European dynasty.

True story: After defeating southern cal in one of their few athletic meetings, "The State" paper in South Carolina decreed "[censored] rip trojans". It was a glorious day.

Also after winning NIT a few years ago the Ann-arbor daily or whatever had the title "[censored] blocked"
