Sunday Million - Muck Jacks preflop?
PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t12000 (9 handed) internettexasholdem.com
Hero (t167334) UTG (t73768) UTG+1 (t107077) MP1 (t203986) MP2 (t288592) MP3 (t645853) CO (t139619) Button (t394068) SB (t38620) Preflop: Hero is BB with J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. UTG raises to t73168, 1 fold, MP1 raises to t203386, 5 folds, Hero ??? At this point we are just into the money. Quite a ways from the next pay bump. My stack is not enough to fold to the next money level or anything. Can I determine that villain would muck AKo or muck 99/TT here and find a fold for the jacks? Reads: First villain is getting desperate. This must be any top 20% hand. I think second villain knows this, but not enough to make his range top 15% or anything that loose. Second Villain is not super tight, definitely not super loose, i put his range like top 4-5% maybe (possibly tighter or slightly looser, but he definitely has good cards here) |

Range for shorty is too tight. Isolation raiser's range is too tight also. You barely have 14bb stack. I call.

What would you have done if MP1 had cold called the all-in?

What would you have done if MP1 had cold called the all-in? [/ QUOTE ] Even with zero FE, maybe 1%, I still stick it in with 14bb stack and holding the 4th best hand in holdem. Calling with any intention except a stop n go would be bad. Villain folding to a stop n go would be prettty bad, but it happens. Only way you are folding out a better hand like KK or QQ on the flop, is if an Ace hits and chances of still folding him out are slim. |

Re: Sunday Million - Muck Jacks preflop?
I dont know that him cold calling makes his range much looser or tighter. If he cold calls and I shove, I am sure he would call me as well, so I dont know that it matters much.
I called here and was berated, I would have shoved had he cold called, I am fairly sure. I am still trying to figure this hand out, quite honestly. It isnt super easy math, as shorty has half my stack and a pretty wide range here, as the big blind hits him for a sixth of his stack next hand. I really think I need to have the iso raiser on a hand range as good as QQ+, AKs+ in order to find a fold for the jacks given the overlay in the pot. Thats why I came here with the hand history, get some further input / discussion. Thanks! |

Re: Sunday Million - Muck Jacks preflop?
In his shoes, my tightest range to isolate here would be 99+, AJs+, AQ+.

Registrar - So I am ahead of any realistic range of even a relatively tight MTT'er who iso raises here?

Re: Sunday Million - Muck Jacks preflop?
Well, you're ahead of my range . I couldn't see myself folding AJs or 99, but I suppose, given villain's position and the stacks behind, we can make it tighter. TT+, AQs+. I think anyone at all would iso-shove those hands there.
So, yes, I think you've got to move in here both because of your equity against their range and because you're not probably not going to get a better chance to win a bigger pot any time soon. |

Re: Sunday Million - Muck Jacks preflop?
Very easy all in.
First guy's range is the top 20% of hands. 2nd guy knows this and will be isolating light. You are way ahead of their ranges. |
