200 NL, top two pair, but the board keeps getting worse.
This is my second orbit, so no reads on villain.
His flop line suggests he might be a donk though. Poker Stars - No Limit Hold'em Cash Game - $1/$2 Blinds - 5 Players - (LegoPoker Hand History Converter) SB: $206.35 Hero (BB): $200.00 UTG: $300.25 CO: $205.20 BTN: $514.20 Preflop: Hero is dealt 8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] T[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (5 Players) UTG calls $2.00, 2 folds, SB calls $1.00, Hero checks Flop: ($6) 8[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 5[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] T[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (3 Players) SB checks, Hero bets $5.00, UTG raises to $10.00, SB folds, Hero raises to $35.00, UTG calls $25.00 Turn: ($76) 7[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 Players) Hero bets $60.00, UTG calls $60.00 River: ($196) 6[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 Players) Hero bets all-in for $103.00 Given that I only have 1/2 pot on the river, is there any other way to play this? |

well, if you check the river you cant fold, because he can be shoving missed flush draws,
that may be better, but im not folding here |

Yeah, this is fine. I don't want to check/fold and if we check he'll just valuetown us with better so often, and check behind a lot of hands a donk would call us with.

Re: 200 NL, top two pair, but the board keeps getting worse.
Donks tend to fold away a lot of hands on scary boards, because their hand reading skills suck. They tend to however do some hopeless bluffs with missed draws.
I don't think your shove is horrible, but I think you get more value out of check/calling on the river. I mean, the only second best hand I think you get value out of here is 67 (which is a likely holding). However if he is a real donk, a flush draw is even slightly more likely (as you know how they like those matching sooted cards). |

I think as soon as he calls your reraise on the flop out of position you have to be very careful. I slow down after he calls.

Anyway, results:
He called, and MHIG. Notes on him after the hand: "NEVER EVER folds top pair under any circumstances." LOL. |

River is a standard push. I'm actually not worried at all about a 9 or a 4. If villain has one of those, it's a fluke. Also, a bunch of other two pairs now play that you are ahead of.

I think we need to shove because he's going to have AT or JJ or something here way more often than anything else, and if we're ahead and don't expect him to bet we ought to fire.
