How to mass-produce chicken / steak
Okay, the diet I'm on has me eating a chicken breast and an 8 oz. steak every day. Does anyone have any tips on how I can make this stupid stuff with the least amount of effort? I've never cooked in my life. Well, I've boiled pasta a couple times but that's it.
I'm not going to be missing out on anything my cooking like 14 of each every 2 weeks and just heating them in the microwave am I? Is there a certain way I'm supposed to be cooking them? To be clear, I can not overestimate how little I know about cooking. Assume you are talking to a retarded person. |

Re: How to mass-produce chicken / steak
George Foreman grill, or grill outside if you have the availability.
I wouldn't keep this stuff in the fridge for more than 4 or 5 days, so you can cook a lot on Sunday and have it for basically your whole work week. But that's the best way. I sometimes like to cook chicken on the stove with some olive oil and garlic and red pepper, just to change it up. Grill the peppers to go with the chicken and you'll be very well off. |

Grill them. Barring that try a George Foreman grill.

Re: How to mass-produce chicken / steak
2 weeks might be a bit too long...i cook all my meals on sunday so i have for the whole week...a george foreman is great, so is an oven...get a large sheet and put some chicken breasts with some marinade or whatever in for 30 min and boom, cookeed chicken breasts
or lean ground beef/turkey is easy to cook on a stovetop just in a pan... |

Making them all at once and them microwaving them will make them taste horrible. The foreman is easy, but if you have a real grill I"d recommend learning how to use it, as it'll make your food taste much better.

Re: How to mass-produce chicken / steak
I'm not sure how salmonella friendly this is,\ but I like to undercook the chicken a little bit when I grill in advance. This way, when I use it in stir-frys or reheat it it doesn't get overcooked and gross and dried out.

Re: How to mass-produce chicken / steak
like others, Ive been doing the sunday cookoff for about 5 years, mainly chicken/ribs, etc, and eat it throughout teh week, so its only in the fridge for 5 days (by saturday its all gone, and I have some extra time to make food anyways). I usually cook steaks fresh because they take all of 8 minutes, and the gas grill is about 10 ft from my bed, same with burgers. I also make some "meat salad" steak, and chicken, grilled, than cut up into peices, tossed with some tomatos/eggplant/lettuce/whatever, and store them in 10 individual tupperwares so I have 2 meals per day taken care of during the week.

Re: How to mass-produce chicken / steak
for the steak this would probably be gross/wasteful but for the chicken you can just boil the breasts in a big pot. Just bring water to boil then put flame on low and then add chicken and basically you can't overcook.

Okay, another question. Is frozen that much worse than fresh?
