Default Paying a premium for shirt quality - how important is it to you?

I've really gotten into t-shirts over the last year (shants thread really piqued my interest) and I've been trying to add to my collection of everyday wearable shirts.

I was just wondering how other OOTers felt about the quality of shirts and how much theyre willing to pay for a shirt that feels better than you standard Gildan/Hanes/etc shirt. After wearing higher quality shirts (American Apparel, JunkFood, DangerousBreed, etc) Ive found that regular shirts are generally more iritable and I shy away from buying them unless I really like the design.

There is certainly a line I wont cross and some shirts that I find and may like at a store like Nordstroms do not deserve the extra large markup they get even if the quality is better.

I'm impartial to the %cotton/%polyester in each shirt as long as I like the shirts and was wondering if this mattered to anyone else.

For me I'm willing to pay an extra $10-15 dollars for a higher quality shirt since I know I'll be comfortable everytime I wear it. Some friends price points are concerned only with how much they like the design or how comfortable they find the shirt. How much does this matter to other OOTers?

I do like a small % polyester. This reduces shrinkage in the dryer.

Before I got my first American Apparel T-shirt, I had no idea what I was missing. But now I'd never go back and would definitely be willing to pay extra for high quality.

As long as its a decent heavyweight 100% cotton shirt I don't really care. I wont not buy something because its not (insert high quality brand here)

I do like the way american appareal feels more than a hanes/gildan, but Im not very fond of the cut, It's too tight across the shoulders for me. It also annoys me they are sized different than "normal" shirts. But I can totally see why some people would prefer them

American apparel uses nice material. I prefer shirts that are 50/50 because I like the way they sit on my body better and the fact that they don't shrink...however, most 50/50 shirts I find are at thrift stores. You don't necessarily have to pay a "premium" for nice quality T-shirts, you just need to know where to look (sometimes Old Navy will have shirts that are MUCH better quality than their other crap, or the Banana Republic outlet if you can find one). I pretty much never pay more than $15 for a T-shirt and even that's a lot.
