Default I can switch my computer on

I can do the above and surf the net and that's about it. I'm old btw. I try reading this forum and frankly I don't understand much of what is discussed. I downloaded the PT trial some time ago and instantly gave up. So 2 questions

1) How much advantage am I giving up by not running PT or other such programme,

2) As a total computer idiot, if I took some time off work and really studied a programme would it make sense in the end?

When I state I'm a computer idiot btw I'm really not joking.

Well at first-i'm the opposite to a 'computer idiot' and even i found that PT is not the easiest program to use (or to setup).
1. Like with every program it depends on how you use it.
2. It would definitely make sense.
