How far do you take a crying call with 2 sp
this seems to be happening to me ALOT in stud-high cash-games.
I'm the bring in with something like 3 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 4 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 3 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] Several limpers (it's a weak game with limited stealing that I play in) and I immediately spike two conceled pair with the 4 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Only one of my remaining 3's or 4's has been burned and I'm feeling OK about my hand. All of the sudden, someone with two broadway cards bets out. I'm guessing he started with 3 cards 9 or higher and now paired one of his hole cards... I'm putting the guy on something like 9-Q-K and has now has a King and Queen on board. My best guess is this scenario (pair and back door draw) or he has a naked open ended straight draw with a possible 3 flush. What should I do? Raise immediately for information on 4th when it's cheap? Wait till the big street and C/R for value + information (I think it's an easy fold to a 3-better in this spot)? Crying call all the way down? Dump it... two small pair SUCK in stud high? |

I wouldn't really raise for the purpose of information.....I'd raise if i am in position to thin the field. If not I'd probably just call and see 5th and see how the hands develop. I wouldn't want to bloat the pot and get myself stuck to the end with a dog of a hand.

If you can get hu with 2 small pair, that is the best option. If more than 3 ppl stay in the hand until 5th street the chances of someone with catching a big pair and then hitting two pair or bluffing you on the river is much higher.

Re: How far do you take a crying call with 2 sp
I raise 4th street most of the time trying to get people to fold.
Periodically, I will wait and raise on 5th street for deception (assuming noone has a pair showing). You are definitely the favorite against any single pair hand, even if he has flush/straight possibilities. Two small pair can be frustrating, but it does win a lot of hands. |

I do usually raise to thin the field, but I usually find that lets my opponent know exactly where I am... no deception value and the villian knows when to take you to VB town.

Re: How far do you take a crying call with 2 sp
wtf is full proof?
Raising for information is frequently idiotic. If by raising you can get it heads-up or maybe three ways, that's probably your best option. If it's like six ways, you can treat it as a full house draw (although you'd really want your hand to be completely live). If it's about four ways, you might be best off just folding. Two pair is unlikely to hold up unimproved, and you're not getting implied odds on your draw. Seems like I just made this post the other day. |
