Re: NLO8 200 - Top pair and busted draws
-Usually raise the flop. TP/NLD = Good (esp. in unraised pots)
-Usually fold this river, you beat nothing but a A3XXs bluff (and XX may very well have you beat). |

Re: NLO8 200 - Top pair and busted draws
I kind of like a raise on the flop too. Could also semibluff raise on the turn.
River is interesting. I think if my opponent is bad I fold, if my opponent is good I call, and if opponent is very very good I fold. Or something like that. Point is that a bad player will bet naked trips here (just betting his hand more or less, without much thought to what will call him and what will fold). A good player will bluff here some of the time with a busted draw, and bet quads and bigger full houses, understanding that the idea is to be called by some hands you beat or get some hands that beat you to fold. But someone who is really subtle might (if they give you credit for being good) in turn bet trips once more, figuring that you are unlikely to have a straight based on the betting, but that you might try to bluffcatch with a high pair - because your reasoning about their hand is similar to what I outlined above. But most opponents are bad, so the default here is to fold. |
