56 films @ 4.95!!! The man keeps getting roles, and keeps making bombs!

However, his movies are in this wholly separate category of so bad they are good. Similar to Steven Segal weighing in a magnificent 4.2!

I think JCVD has a few more beloved cult-classic-type movies than Segal has. I think it's a battle between Baldwin and Segal, and Baldwin has been at least attempting to make serious movies.

Take out Usual Suspects, and Baldwins average drops to 4.87. Also, one of his high-rated films he was only a voice in.

I think Baldwins median is also lower than 4.95.

And JCVD and Segal may be lower, but has either of them done it 56 times!? It's actually extremely difficult to have 56 opportunities for mediocrity. I mean, there are only so many films. You'd think he'd have a handful of more 7's and 6's to bump up his average.

At first I laughed, but then I was upset when I found out he was going to star in Slapshot 2: Breaking the Ice. lol.

I was like "How bad will that be.." About a year ago I saw it at Blockbuster with my girl and was like "God I bet that is so bad". She said "We rented that a few years back." Me: "No. I would have remembered. I wanted to, but we never did." Her: "Trust me, we did." Me: "God damn, that must have been horrible. I can't believe I don't remember watching that just 3 years ago."

I dont understand why people diss Van damme/Segal. Action movies is what they do and they do it well. Who doesn't like seeing bad guys getting their butts kicked once in a while?

People rate them based on their movies not having advanced plots and acting but come on they are action movies!

Perhaps, but action movies can still have better plots and acting than the average JCVD or Segal movie, and it generally makes the flicks more enjoyable. Observe:

Die Hard
Terminator 2
Aliens

I'll grant that none of the actors are going to win Oscars here, but the acting bar is still a little higher than Segal's movies. Also, I'd argue that the quality of the writing and the directing is much higher, and it shows. Action movies are great and all, but just because it's a movie with action doesn't mean it's worth watching. There are enough decent-to-good action movies that you don't have to go slumming to get your fix.

The only reason people love those movies is due to nostalgia. And the only reason we loved them as children is because the bar was set so damned low, crap like Bloodsport could pass as 'OMG KEWLZZ!!!'. Now, with real martial arts flooding the market, our standards have increased and we more easily identify the wannabe's.

I don't think anybody now would seriously love Bloodsport outside of the camp factor. Same goes for Predator, Commando, and any Chuck Norris film.

Bloodsport is horrible but it's fun to watch a horrible actor with giant muscles do a bunch of flying spinning kicks.

Predator is a very good movie.

Commando is a horrible movie that knows it is horrible, and plays for campy laughs. "I let him go."
