I have seen the following statement on this board a few times now:
"The bigger the pot is pre-flop, the player in position has less of an advantage post flop" (not the exact quote, but you get the point) so, based on this statement, we should be calling loose openers from the button more often than we're 3-betting them because we have position, as 3-betting makes the pot bigger. thus negating our positional advantage (assuming 100bb stacks). ok, so lately, i'm having decent success w/loose 3-betting from the button when a 20/15ish type is opening from the CO. I've been 3-betting hands like suited Aces, SCs, broadways, small pairs etc.... there are advantages to loose 3-betting here like: winning the pot pre-flop, hitting disguised hands, image, metagame, blah blah blah.. (this is not to say i never cold-call from the button, but for arguments sake, lets say i will call and raise at an even 50/50 frequency with my entire button range) but where do we draw the line in our 3-betting strategy here if we're giving up an advantage by bloating the pot pre-flop??? |
