Default 100NL TP2K: This is variance

Sorry for so many hands.

Guy is a buddy, 53/18/1.4 (200). Like 45% went to showdown. He's not afraid to raise the flop hard with monsters or make heroic calls.

Overplaying top pair. OOP. Please kill me.

This looks fine. Busted spade draw I'm assuming.

BBV IS THAT-A-WAY SIR

He lost Sklansky $$ in this hand; therefore, you win! Just cash in those $$ at the Sklansky Bank.

c/c turn, c/c river. I'd rather be the one calling him than betting here. Reason: On the River you're only getting a call from a weaker ace? He makes some heroic calls but so what. On the turn, you're liable to get raised by a combo draw or he donk tripped his 8. If you're firing the turn expecting to get raised I would just shove the turn. I don't know by betting the turn, you really got committed to this pot with 1 pair (well 2 pair) 2nd kicker, and I hate stacking off with a pair.

I say c/c turn for 2 reasons, he is betting a worse hand for you, vs he might fold to your bet. Or he has you crushed and you're stacking off.
C/C river because when you let him see your draw on the turn, you give him a chance to fire when he misses majority of the time. He turns OESD in this case, 18% I don't mind letting him peel @ all when I'm sure he will fire when he misses 100% of the time.
So you C/C turn and river to induce the bluff from a worse hand, and avoid getting stacked with one pair. I think thats >>> +EV than attempting to protect top pair when we know he is a donkey anyway

WTK:

Thanks for your reply.

From the guys stats/reads, he's not that aggressive with draws so c/f turn is probably preferable to c/c. Also, I think you may have misread the hand: The turn didn't pair the board. So, yeah, I have one pair and he could have hit a set on the turn but he'd probably shove it, probably shove 78 too.

I think c/c river is way better here, though. His hand is probably a draw but it might be a bluff catching pair. I bet to maximise against his bluff catchers but I believe now his range is weighted towards draws so prefer a c/c.

I was going to say I need to bet more on the turn but he's getting 3.8-1 implied odds and he has 15 'outs' (6.67-1) since I'll c/f a spade but puking and calling a diamond.
