Management simply can't be given enough abuse to allow the OF to enter the season in this shape. Especially since I assume TLR let them know he was gonna inexplicably platoon Duncan again. I was pseudo ok with the lack of pitching signings, but the OF is a joke and kills any chance they have this year.

Carpenter goes on the DL. Hopefully nothing serious but it does not sound too good. The report I saw said inflammation and arthritis in his pitching elbow. This in his first start after the Cards gave him a three-year $43.5 million extension with a $15 million option for 2012. They already had him locked up for this year and a club option for next year. I thought Walt was pretty shrewd but this deal and the Edmonds signing of around $19 million for two years makes me wonder.

Um...if you have Carp on your fantasy team what type of impact will this have? I don't know what "inflammation and arthiritis" does to an arm geared towards pitching. Like will this linger all year, or is there no way of knowing what exactly will happen?
