Fireworks on TV
Right now they are broadcasting the "Thunder Over Louisville" fireworks show. I've always thought WTF is up with showing fireworks on TV. There is no effect, no emotional connection, no ooohhs and awwwws....it basically sucks. Can anyone else see the point of it?

Re: Fireworks on TV
I see fireworks on TV on the same level of church on tv (I'm talking real church services, not that "send me money for a miracle" crap). It's really for the people who can't get out to see the fireworks themselves so they can still feel the connection of the event from their home.

Re: Fireworks on TV
I think airing thunder over louisville is more a signal of the start of derby than a fireworks show. Also one station in the city gets the rights to it, so its an advertising thing. There are 800,000 people there watch, thats a pretty big chunk of the television audience anyway.

Re: Fireworks on TV
I am kinda glad I have to get up early so I'm not stuck down there in that drunken mess of people.

Re: Fireworks on TV
I pretty much hate everything about the Derby festival.
The fireworks are pretty sweet in person, but like siccjay said, not worth the hysteria that follows. But on TV, wow it's lame. |

Re: Fireworks on TV
Chowwagons are ok. I will never miss a Derby Infield for the rest of my life.

Re: Fireworks on TV
Yeah, strike that. Chow Wagons are a nice change of pace for lunch and a good place to drink once or twice a year. I will likely never go to another Infield for the rest of mine.
