Default Flame away

Live game. Two terrible limpers and I limp on the Button with A8o. Victor completes in the SB, BB checks.

Flop is 983 rainbow. Blinds check, first limper bets--he can spray on the flop with draws but gets incredibly timid after--, second limper calls, I call, Victor checkraises, BB folds, first limper 3-bets, fold, I think for a second and call, Victor 4-bets, we call.

Turn is a K. Victor checks, limper says, "I took my shot" and checks, I bet, they call.

River is a 5. Checks around.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say raise/fold preflop first off...

yeah it's live and yeah sitting there folding and folding is boring but A8o vs. 2 limpers, wtf are you doing just calling? take the initiative and hope to get it 3ways w/ you in position w/ a solid ace given the situation. i'm not saying that raising is clearly the best play, but the one i'd chose over calling and folding...

if I'm continuing past the flop w/ this hand, I'm definitely raising. what does calling accomplish against a limper who might "spray on the flop with draws"? calling is really bad here, imo. you wanna isolate the draw w/ your mptk and solid redraw, no??/

okay, after playing the flop the way you did in the first place, i guess you have to call the 2 cold (althogh I think folding is probably better but since villain is a 2p2er I'd say he's FOS/pushing a draw enough of the time to make the call) and it's an easy call of course, after he caps.

turn: [censored]. victor is obv. on a draw, limper's comment would def. lead me towards betting, but who knows? if he is "taking a shot w/ a 9" then it's good if he folds the winner, but more importantly you need to charge victor to pay for his draw on the turn and hope your 5(maybe?) outs are clean.

on the river:

victor obv. missed. the limper prob has 9x and is not gonna fold it (the pot is effing retardedly huge) and you've got 3rd pair top kicker, betting here seems kinda retarded) so yeah, check.

tough hand.

lots of options on what to do on either street... I think the problem started preflop - which should be either raise/fold, imho.

just my thoughts, dave.

I would have raised the flop, but I don't hate your line. I think I am at the more passive side of 2+2 though. Was this at the charity games?

This hand makes my head hurt. I keep trying to justify any of your plays but am having a damn hard time. I think about the only play I like is the river check and even that I'm not sure about.

I think a misclick is more likely in this case.
