AA - OOP and terrible turn card hits
this is a pretty common spot and should be simple, but im not sure what the best line is to take on the turn when everything reasonable hits
villain is a 19/9 ABC tagfish. pretty passive postflop, hasnt done anything stupid so far over ~100 hands Poker Stars - No Limit Hold'em Cash Game - $0.50/$1 Blinds - 6 Players - (LegoPoker Hand History Converter) SB: $117.25 BB: $101.70 Hero (UTG): $139.05 MP: $122.60 CO: $45.85 BTN: $107.35 Preflop: Hero is dealt A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] A (6 Players) Hero raises to $4.00, MP calls $4.00, 4 folds Flop: ($9.50) Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 4 8 (2 Players) Hero bets $8.00, MP calls $8.00 Turn: ($25.50) Q (2 Players) Hero??? awesome turn card. so whats the plan? if turn was say 2c instead do we play different? how do we play it if hero has the Ac? |

Re: AA - OOP and terrible turn card hits
Situation 1 (same suits and board the same): Don't put any more money in the pot unless the turn gets checked through and when checked to on the river he makes a very small bet. We are behind nearly his entire flop calling range except for 98s (if he calls preflop) and JJ-99. That is why you should call a small bet on river because JJ-99 might try to get value from an 8.
Situation 2 (Ac in our hand, board the same): I like a turn c/c, river c/f UI, valuebet accordingly if you hit an A or club. You are still behind his made hands, but you have 11 outs to the nuts or a very strong hand. Situation 3 (same suits, but 2c as turn): Bet 16-20. You are well ahead of the majority of his range. AQ, KQ, QJ all will likely call a bet, JJ-99 might if they have a club. You want to get money in now and avoid a club falling off because then you lose action from worse made hands that would've called a turn bet or lose the whole pot to some hands that have club kickers. The draws are a part of his range, but there are much less combos of club hands that he would call with preflop. We have to fold to a raise though. Situation 4 (Ac in our hand, 2c as turn): Bet 16-20. Same situation as above, just better because club rivers are good for you too. You can v-bet those as well. If you get raised, I really don't know what to do, though. |

Re: AA - OOP and terrible turn card hits
thanks bdaws-
i did c/f the turn when villain bet 20. i agree with the other situations you wrote about as well. do you ever mix in a ch/r when the turn is a flush card adn you have an over pair - with or without the suit? edit - after thinking abot it more im thinking the ch/r mights only be goood vs a 22/17 type habitual floater, when we have like the lone Ac or lone Kc, rather than with an overpair |
