Default Did I Make A Booboo?

I was recently playing a 50 dollar 10 man sng.

7 people were remaining at the 75/150 level.

The small stack goes all in from under the gun, he has 410.

The big stack, second to act, calls the 410.

I find AJ offsuit on the button and go all in for 2000.

Did I make a booboo?

I thought about this hand for about an hour afterwards, and it inspired me to come and sign up on this forum, because i still don't know if i made a booboo or not.

By the time the action got to me the starting pot contained 1045....

I felt confident that I had the small stack crushed.

I was uncertain of the big stacks holding. I thought that he would most likely raise with hands that were stronger than AJ... I felt like his most likely holding would be a pair smaller than jacks... But I definately was thinking about the chance that he had something big... This was the only thing preventing me from going all in...

the small stack had Qs3s, the big stack had AKoff (and actually was hesitant to call with it, and said that he was thinking about laying it down in the chat box after the hand), and me and the small stack got dropped in 6th and 7th places

did i make a booboo?

i think you might be right, but how does the big stack not make a raise there with AK??? i could not put him on his hand because he made a numb play.

Welcome to the forum. I invite you to read the FAQ, which explains the best way to format your posts, subject lines and so on, which will stop you from getting shouted at by the mods.

I like how you played it. You are showing a lot of strength by pushing (because, obviously, you are going to have to show down), and I think you can realistically expect bigstack to fold a lot of his range. Yet you don't actually need a superstrong hand because you read shorty for nothing much, and I think that's going to be right most of the time. It's just unlucky that bigstack has a premium hand.

People often call shorties all in without any thought that players are left to act behind them. I'd shove AJ here to, you are ahead of his range.

Also, don't include results in the post.

Some players often call with a monster here hoping to get more players to either come along or shove over them. I think I fold this pretty often.

I'd say big stacks call with a wide range much more often than they call hoping to induce a shove from behind.

Default Close Decision

I'm glad to see that there are mixed opinions about this hand.

My feeling was that it was a close decision if nothing else.

Anyone else have some insight?
