Getting a [censored] of photos into digital format
I'd like to get a few hundred of maybe even a couple of thousand photos onto my computer. Is there any service that has a machine that can expedite this procedure? Or - will they have to be done manually?

I know a service exists to do something similar with music and iTunes/iPods....can't say i've ever heard of it for photos, but i wouldn't be surprised....google turns up nothing?

I have never used one, but there are services such as Scan Cafe which will do this.
Based on the prices I am seeing, it looks worth it rather then doing it manually. |

Re: Getting a [censored] of photos into digital format
A quick Google pulled this up.
As someone who was affectionately called "Scan Monkey" at their last job (I scanned entire academic texts, Photoshopped them and uploaded them for entire summers) I can tell you you are better off paying someone to do this. It's terribly time consuming and boring. The only exception might be if you have slides, and then you can buy trays and special scanners to automate and do it at home. |

You may want to look into scanners with a feed option where you can just toss a stack of photos on it and let it do the work. They'll set you back a few hundred, but that's probably what it's going to cost you through some service.

that image preserve is .com and quoted in $ [/ QUOTE ] lol, yeah, another look at that first page I linked makes me realize that a.) I need another cup of coffee and b.) people in the UK hate digitizing their photos I'll take another look in a bit and post the question on dpreview...somebody there will have the (correct) answer. |
