basic stud hi situation: high pair vs overcard on 3rd
long time LHE player, just picking up stud. I have what must be a basic strategy question:
when you have a big pair, say (Kx)K, and you complete, what's the right approach when an A doorcard raises? or, when you hold (Kx)K and an A doorcard completes in front of you? is this analogous to WA/WB in hold 'em, where you would just call down? or do you usually just fold b/c of reverse implied odds? |

Re: basic stud hi situation: high pair vs overcard on 3rd
Automatically folding or calling in the spot is wrong. Things to consider:
1) How live your hand is? 2) How live their doorcard is? 3) How big is the ante? 4) Do you have straight/flush potential? and most importantly: 5) Does this player need to have you beat to reraise? |

It depends. A significant portion of 7CS4AP is devoted to this subject.
