leatherface's posts in general are pretty depressed and IIRC he has threatened to off himself before. His latest post in response to: " what drives people to go on maniacal shooting sprees of random innocent students....total insanity or what?" Was "Seriously I am giving tons of warning signs but no one seems to care. See me on the news someday. I think I can do a better job." If it was just another troll I wouldn't think twice, but given LF's posting history I think he is truly a sick [censored] in need of some serious help. Anything we can do here? Would alerting his local police be going too far? gw |

About Leatherface... what he posted should probably be reported to the police. He made death threats (implied) on a forum, alleging he would do a copycat crime. While it is 99 % BS, you (as well as 2+2) should really tell the police his IP address and what he posted. -XXXX |

Re: leatherface
I think it's hard to get too deep into the mind of a troll. If he's actually really depressed , then likely he's showing the same behavior offline as well, and people who know him and can really judge him will be involved.

Re: leatherface
there's nothing the cops can really do about this - it's not even a death threat, it's just a generalized warning sign. now, if we knew some of his relatives, a quiet talk might be in order.

Re: leatherface
yeah, but the trouble with that is 'looked into' means, at best, a five minute "can we come in and talk?" home visit by two guys in uniform (maybe not if he lives in the sticks, but in a major city that's what it'd come down to). if he is seriously disturbed, that's as likely to serve as a trigger as anything else.
like I said, if anyone on the forums knows someone in his family, or his RL friends, that'd be a better starting point. |

wow, you take the internet way too seriously. [/ QUOTE ] This is my first reaction too, but after watching the news today, it seems a little more disturbing. |

wow, you take the internet way too seriously. [/ QUOTE ] I don't think I do, considering an overwhelming number of school shootings are prefaced by these kind of comments. Even if there is a 1% chance that he is being serious that is too much not to at least write an email to the police explaining the situation and recommending they look into it. |
