Cleveland charity poker
Has anyone here tried the charity games in Cleveland?
http://www.nauticacharitypoker.com/ I see the time charge is quite high, but it's the only show in town. Are the games well run and safe (and legal)? |

Re: Cleveland charity poker
I've never played but friends in Cleveland have. Volunteer dealers, crappy floor, but hey its for charity. My advice play on-line, or go to Windsor Ont. |

Re: Cleveland charity poker
I've gone twice. There are tons of cops on site so it's definitely legal and secure.
Now, for the real ugly part of it. Cash only on the tables and 100% volunteer dealers. These two combinations make for really long hands being played. Also as mentioned previously, the time charge is terrible. They do not offer NL cash games but the 10/20 game was juicy. When I played it was only one blind but it didn't matter because everyone played every hand. If you do play be prepared to get sucked out on a lot but the game is real juicy but I doubt that the juice makes the game beatable due to how slow the dealers are. |

Re: Cleveland charity poker
I can't speak for the Cleveland area, but when I was living in Cincinnati, I used to play in the Reeses event (in fact, I won one of them and got 10k for my efforts), in Dayton, Ohio.
I've heard horror stories about the ones in Cleveland. I know there is one that runs down in the Columbus area as well. The State (of Ohio) is green with envy with all the cash in these games, so they've really been making life hard for all the people who run these games. Some in the past have not been so honest, so it's made the situation worse. FWIW, I know from when I played at the Reeses events a few years ago, that they do watch over everything these guys do, so I would say it's a pretty safe venue to play in. As for the Reese's events, I don't know if he's still even running them anymore, as they are a hugh hastle anymore to put on because of the State of Ohio. |

Re: Cleveland charity poker
The ones in Cleveland should be pretty good. One of the consultants that are there right now is pretty weak, but he still works on the floor in a casino.
