This topic comes up a lot. You can use the search function to find threads by looking for +london -re: in the subject field only.

As it happens, though, I am also going this week and looking for info so I am doing this same search. Here are some threads:

Speaking of the Western, this place will be far closer for me than the Vic for my trip this week.

Do they charge for the membership at the Western? If so, are short term memberships available?

I see the tournament schedule. Are cash games also available?

The Web site did not answer the questions, but I did get an answer through email (with a quick response, too, I should add).

There is no charge for membership, just bring ID.

Cash games go, usually starting up with tournament knock outs about an hour into the nightly tournament.

Does anyone have anything to add about the games at the Western?

Unfortunately that's pretty much the only cardroom I've never played in, but I'll be happy to answer any question you might have about The Vic, The Palm Beach and the Loose Cannon, and I might be able to give some second-hand insight into The Sportsman, if anyone's interested.

Definitely check out the gutshot (dot co dot uk). I don't play there much (not local anymore) but my pal who does tells me the cash games go all night there Thursday-Saturday, which is most unusual in the UK. Apparently turning up at 7am would be a good plan if you like £££.

Guy.
