Loose Table
I play live 2-5 with $100 buy in in South Florida. When it seems that a majority of the players at the table are playing a loose game. What is the best strategy in genral tighten up or loosen up? |

Re: Loose Table
Play tighter preflop, but loosen up a bit afterward, since they'll be betting weaker hands on average.

Re: Loose Table
There's more to it than that.
Loose-Aggressive pre-flop (wild game, raises & re-raises) Tighten up, especially in early position, before you see how many players (and which) are in the pot. Tight players may sandbag in early pos, expecting raises behind. Loose-Passive See cheap flops, and if the flop play is passive, then connectors and big flushes go up in value. But you might have problems in raised pots, with sets to get paid enough, where a cautious passive player makes small bet, and your raise provokes folds. |

Re: Loose Table
I wouldn't play in this game. However, I just read that Florida law states that buyins are limited to $100. Guess they have no poker players in their legislature.
I would seriously look for at least 1-2 with $100 buyin. Anyways as to your question, you should read about short stack strategies. In a game where you can only buy in for 20BB, you are looking at an all-in commitment every pot you enter. With that in mind, you are either going to raise or re-raise your good hands and move in on most flops (if not preflop) or see a flop for one BB and then decide if you are committed to the hand or fold to any bet. The strategy I suggested above seems to be on the tight side. |
