Default this one didn\'t feel right... 40-80 live

this happened a while ago... my image is probably TAG, though i raised utg w/ 89s a few hands back and showed it down.... villain is pretty solid, and i think a pro. we have shown mutual respect for one another's play in the few times we tangled. anyways, the hand.

hero raises utg w/ AQo (suits irrelevant)
folded to villain in hijack, villain calls, rest of table folds.

flop: 824r
hero bets, villain raises, hero calls

turn is A (completes rainbow)
hero checks, villain bets, hero raises, villain 3bets, while hero considers the action, villain says "come on, ak no good." hero folds???

i really really hated my turn play.

you played it fine but c/ring the A on the turn doesnt really make sense. you can just bet the turn since it's obviously the card you were waiting for, dont give him a free card. if you bet the turn and are raised it again it's close but against certain players it's easy to find the fold.

I dont like the turn checkraise. Check call / lead river if you are not afraid of a freecard and bet call the turn if you dont want to give a free card. I hate checkraising an ace turn in this spot, it just allows a pocketpair to fold and a better hand to punish you.

I dont like folding to a raise on the turn here. If you want to fold the turn to a raise here often then I think you are better off check calling the turn.

looking back on the hand, i think that if i'm going to be putting in two bets on the big streets, i should be seeing a showdown or at least the river. while the 3bet there generally means i'm beat, i would've been much better off check-calling the turn and donking the river (folding to a raise probably). the check-raise there would be a much better move if i had KQs or something.

I just don't like lines like checkcalling the turn and donkfolding the river. I just have a hard time imagining what it accomplishes. Here I'd think you should just bet the turn and call down if he raises.
