gutterball+fd v good2cu
villians good2cu, i had such a small sample space i dont think stats are important.
Poker Stars - No Limit Hold'em Cash Game - $2/$4 Blinds - 5 Players - (LegoPoker HH Converter) SB: $548.30 BB: $165.50 UTG: $441.70 CO: $515.85 Hero (BTN): $406.40 Preflop: Hero is dealt 9[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (5 Players) UTG raises to $14, CO folds, Hero calls $14, SB folds, BB calls $10 Flop: ($44) J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (3 Players) BB checks, UTG bets $33, Hero raises to $105, BB folds, UTG raises all-in to $427.70, Hero calls all-in for $287.40 Uncalled bet of $35.30 returned to UTG preflop: im normally in favor of the call w/ this hand v his utg range. on the flop :i was torn btwn calling the one bet and reeval'ing the turn. but i opted to try and get a free card. then that exploded in my face. with his shove i was thinking probably AA/JJ/88/AJ, maybe AK, but that play wouldnt make too much since from him. just making sure im commited here, maybe my math was off, i didnt like getting it in but i believe i was getting the odds. it wouldnt have been that bad of a fold would it have? definately crossed my mind as a lower variance play. would it have been better to play to see the turn? i didnt feel as if id get paid off well by calling on the fd. |

Re: gutterball+fd v good2cu
I think this is fine, can't really fold to his push. The only real question is whether or not to raise flop, which I think is close. I probably still raise, since his range is so wide here.

Re: gutterball+fd v good2cu
Standard, you could call the flop and raise/push a lot of turn cards if you were looking for an alternative line.

Re: gutterball+fd v good2cu
He raised UTG, then continuation bet against two people on an ace high board.
My thoughts: -For the reason listed above, he usually has a strong hand -You say that your sample size is small, as such I'm assuming that he has no reads on you and assumes that you are a random 2/4 donkey. I'm going to assume that Good2cu won't fold most of his decent hands to an unknown 2/4 player. As such, raising isn't going to gain you much fold equity. Sometimes it will buy you a turn card (for a price) but often times he will shove over your raise as happened here. I think the best line is to call the flop here and reevaluate on the turn. If he knew you and that you weren't capable of stacking off with AT then I can see a raise since he will be put in a tough spot with a lot of good but not great hands. |
