3/5 NL - Best line OOP with a set of jacks?
3/5 NL $300 effective stacks
1 limper. I raise to 20 from MP with JJ. Poster calls. He could would call with about 57s+. Flop As Jc Td limper checks, I bet 30 (to this point I have picked up a few pots by betting 25 or 30, I was trying to bet a similar amount hoping to get some action) Poster thinks and calls. I felt he could have a weak ace, two pair or gut shot such as a K or Q. Seems like he could make a bad call if the opportunty came about. Turn 8s I check he bets 30, I raise to 130. (120 left) really bad time to do this? |

I would just bet every street and hope he can't get away from his A.
There is almost no chance he is floating, here. So just let him call you down. |

Betting the pot on this flop is a must. You want pairs + SDs to pay as much as possible b/c they usually aren't folding.
Pot flop. 3/4 turn. Push river. |

I don't think I'd want to offer that kind of action on a three Broadway Board where gutshots abound and the OESD is possible. I like betting the pot or maybe pushing right there. How does that sound? [ QUOTE ] Flop As Jc Td Turn 8s I check he bets 30, I raise to 130. (120 left) really bad time to do this? [/ QUOTE ] When a card that completes the flop OESD comes, I think so. As played I'd probably lead with something and feel the need to fold to a raise. Alternately, I might just call and hope the river pairs or I can get to a cheap showdown. |

I like at least a 3/4 pot bet here.
On the turn, I like your raise. |

RESULTS: 3/5 NL - Best line OOP with a set of jacks?
LP poster had 97h for the gutshot and stacked me. It sucks to be the one giving too much action.
getting more money in on the flop is the way to go because a set has the most value on the flop when less straights and flushes are possible. |
