I would have folded this preflop. Why?

1.) The button has a hand he's willing to play.

2.) You still have a short stack to act after you. If he has anything close to a hand, he's most likely raising.

3.) Your hand is garbage.

4.) If the shortstack doesn't raise you out of this pot, you'll be forced to play a trash hand out of position.

5.) You're in great shape to sit back and play only upper-tier hands while waiting for the bubble elimination.

I agree with GF points.

There is no way I would compromise my stack with a garbage hand out of position.

If I were you, in my mind I would be thinking about what I think is going to happen as the pre-flop-world churns:

BB is short stacked and needs to get chips in order to not bubble.

Button is in position and his call means he has ‘something’, possibly just calls to draw you in, wants to see a flop and probably will call IF BB raises since it’s not that much more and won’t devastate his chances of cashing.

Yup, nice stack I have, but this isn’t a time to bully + gamble with garbage so let it go [save my $150 for a better spot] since already the odds are that the BB will raise it up. Why give any opponent more ammo against me and have to play post-flop with these cards? Nope, no completion bet for me.

I know im in the minority here, but I dont mind the bubble not bursting. We know that BB is taking this hand to the river via preflop push or stop-n-go. No reason for us to help bust him here when we have a dominating stack.

That said, as it played out, I am pushing preflop here after BB pushed and BTN called. BTN will fold to our push unless he is an idiot or has a monster (which I really doubt, because he has shown weakness twice by just calling hoping to bust the bubble). After we push, BTN folds in disgust because we didnt cooperate with his plan to bust the bubble.

So if shorty wins:

This may not be the perfect situation for this play, but when I have the big stack on the bubble, I really like to have the other three get into a foldwar trying to make the money while I slowly bleed them all down to nothing. This leads to a large amount of wins. Plus, you should see the chat box when I fold instead of calling a tiny push from SB into my BB.

Better example would be something like this:

Hero post BB 300, UTG folds, BTN folds, SB raise to 600, hero folds.

No sense busting the bubble, when we can keep pressuring the other two stacks for their tournament life.

fold this pf. let the bubble continue. ur big stack and u can grind them down quite well and never be in that bad of shape
