Default double clicking not working (videos)

When I double click any kind of program or file, it works, but when I double click to try to open my videos it doesn't work. I have to right click --> open with --> windows media player in order to get the video to play through windows media player. This happened yesterday and I tried to fix it, but nothing seems to be working. Help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

You don't mention what happens when you double click the file. The first thing I would check would be the 'file associations'. From Windows Explorer click Tools, Folder Options, File Types. Scroll to the file extension you want to associate and make sure the program you want to open it with is selected. For example, if it is an .avi file I use VLC media player. You preference is Windows Media Player.
