Beat: wrong book choice
Hi, somewhat of a lurker here. So I bought Small Stakes Hold 'Em thinking I could really bring my game to the next level. Unfortunately I play only NL. I didnt notice the lack of 'No' before the word Hold Em I guess so I'm out $20, which is 10 percent of my online bank roll. Time to grind the $2 sngs.
So, as per your customs: [ ] thread delivers [ ] OP is a baller [x] Fail |

Re: Beat: wrong book choice
i'm assumin u r startin to learn the game. while u doin that forget about buyin any books. any basic info u need to improve ur game is available online for free. the very best way to learn is by playin. so get a true feel for the game and then go ahead buy books. since u bought it already u should read it and pay close attention to it. maybe even read it twice. it will help u some w/ ur game.

Should have bought Fischman's book. Probably the best one out there.
Or not. |

Re: Beat: wrong book choice
Sadly, I've actually read quite a bit of strategy in this and other online forums and in several books (not Fischman's though, thanks for the suggestion).
I play 1/2 live every now and then (went to Vegas for 3 days in May) but am basically broke so online gives me my cheap fixes. I turned $50 into ~ $220 this month playing 18 man $2 sngs around 3 hours a day. I know most of you would kill yourselves if you were me but I enjoy it and its certainly a hobby for after work. I'm going to cash out after a while and take a stab at foxwoods. |

SSHE is worth reading even for a NL player.

Re: Beat: wrong book choice
Try this for NL, but read Theory of Poker first. Theory of poker is about the most boring book i've ever read but it helps with the rest of the sklansky books cause its referenced so much... and it does have some very useful information on how you should think about the game in general.
