Default 2/4 B&M - Stinkiest played hand of the day! Do I win a prize?

2/4 B&M, 10 handed, loose & passive table

Villain is one of the more reasonable players at table. One of the relatively tighter (for 2/4) players preflop. Will pump drawing hands with enough oppponents.

UTG+3 is really loose (80% flops) fish that I should probably be attempting to punish on flop.

Preflop: Hero is MP1 with J [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 9 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]
UTG (Villain) calls, fold, UTG+3 calls, Hero calls, 2 folds, CO calls, Button calls, SB completes, BB checks

Flop (7 players, 7 SB): Q [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] J [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 9 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]
SB checks, BB checks, Villain bets, UTG+3 calls, Hero calls, CO calls, Button folds, SB folds, BB calls

Turn (5 players, 6 BB): 8 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]
BB checks, Villain bets, UTG+3 folds, Hero calls, CO folds, BB folds

River (2 players, 8 BB): 8 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]
Villain bets, Hero calls

Yuck, this was the my ugliest played hand in a while.

Preflop I think is ok at this table.

Usually I autoraise two pairs on the flop but with this drawy board my plan was to wait until a safe turn to raise it; should I have just raised it on the flop to make it incorrect for gutshots to continue and make flush/straight draws pay?

Turn I didn't have a clue what to do. The turn card wasn't safe so that sorta killed my original plan of raising. But do I have to raise here anyways? I ended up calling thinking that (a) I might be still ahead and (b) if I was behind a couple of extra callers behind me would make it correct to chase the boat.

River I honestly don't know why I made a crying call. Only getting 9:1 and I can't see what I'm beating here. Yah, I flopped two pair! I'm a moron.

you're right i hate not raising the flop. After the turn card i think check call and on the river you can fold to a bet

I was originally upset at myself on this hand because I was a call, call, call, call calling station. But last night I re-read SSHE pg 160 "When a Raise Will Not Protect Your Hand" and it has a similar hand (Tc8c with QhTh8s flop) where it suggests to wait till a safe turn card to raise. Maybe the flop call ain't as stinky as I initially thought. I'm thinking the turn call is a little debatable since I still have a couple of people to act behind me. The river I think is an obvious fold since I can't even beat Qx.

Preflop: good

Flop: Great! I really like just calling here and then getting aggressive with a safe turn.

Turn: I let it go here. You say villian is reasonable so there is a good chance that he has atleast a T. Even if he happens to have something you beat like K [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]Q there are still two others behind you.

River: Now there is basically nothing you can beat so fold.

Preflop is good. Flop is good. Turn is a fold. River is a fold.

The point of checking the flop was so you can raise a SAFE turn card. The 8 of diamonds is the worst card in the deck for your hand. You're drawing to 4 outs and it's very possible that one of the two remaining players will raise after you act with either a flush or a ten.
