Default Retrieving the Recycling Bin

Hello,

A year ago after I built my computer, I deleted the Recycling Bin and other icons so my desktop would be clean. However, I can't find where the Recycling Bin is.

A couple of notes:

1. I downloaded TweakUI. Under the Desktop Tab, there is no Recycling Bin on the list of Desktop Icons.

2. I went to the registry folder HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Explorer\Desktop\NameSpace and {645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E} exists.

3. When I open up Windows Explorer, there is no Recycling Bin listed under the Desktop tab.

4. When I delete an item in a folder for example, Windows does tell me the file will be going to the Recycling Bin.

Help?

open windows explorer, and under every hard drive on the left hand pane there should be a "Recycler" folder. you should be able to right-click and drag it to the desktop, then select "create shortcut"

I opened Windows Explorer, but there is no Recycler folder under the C: drive. I have it set to view hidden files and folders.

I then went to Start -- Run and typed in C:\recycler and it opened up an empty folder. There definitely should be items still in my recycling bin though. I just deleted a file and C:\RECYCLER is still empty. FWIW, typing in C:\recyclera gave me an error message.

I am using Windows XP Professional. I only have one hard drive.

the recycler won't show up in the right hand pane, only the left. Are you saying there's no recycler in the left hand pane? (click the "folders icon if you only see one pane like the default behavior when opening "My Computer")

There is no recycler in the left hand pane (or the right hand one).

well that IS strange. I never use the recycle bin anyway (I always shift-delete...never saw the point in trash cans or recycle bins), but I'm stumped. Hopefully someone else will chime in. Sorry I can't help ya

Thanks for your help BiPolar. Maybe it's a sign I should reformat the comp just to get rid of all the [censored] that is on it.
