MacBook Pro
Are the new macbook pro compatible with all the software you need to play poker? For me that would be pokertracker, PAHUD and each of the following pokersites: Full Tilt, Poker Stars, ongAme and crypto
(im a total mac noob btw, never used one) |

Re: MacBook Pro
The only program you listed above that runs natively on Mac OS X is Full Tilt Poker. Most people just run a VM (a la Paralells or VMWare) or run BootCamp and just boot right into Windows XP/Vista on their MacBook.

Re: MacBook Pro
I've been using a Macbook for about a year now and I love it. Everything
runs under Parallels better and faster than it did on my Dell Inspiron. You need to buy or obtain a legitimate copy of Windows and install it under Parallels. Simple and works very well. By the way....you might consider the Macbook rather than the Pro. At home, you will probably want an external monitor anyway so no reason to get the larger bulkier Pro. |

About the only thing that can be easily upgraded on a lappy is the memory so you are better off getting as much laptop you can afford up front. |

[/ QUOTE ] Unless they changed the configurations recently, the Pro is neither faster nor has more memory. I was able to buy the MacBook with the same processor speed as the Pro and the same amount of memory. And there is another advantage to the Macbook......the Macbook has a plastic case, while the Pro has a metal case. There have been numerous reports that the metal case limits the reception of WiFi in comparison to the plastic. |

Re: MacBook Pro
MacBook Pros are faster and have more memory standard. MacBooks top out at 2.16Ghz and 1G standard. Pros start at 2.2Ghz and 2G standard.
I haven't heard any reports of limited Wifi reception and haven't noticed any issues with it with my PowerBook's metal case. |

Re: MacBook Pro
The Pro is a bit faster, has a better screen for playing poker on (unless you 1-table I guess), and has better external display support. The Pro's metal case doesn't cause any significant problems with the wireless. The MacBook is a good computer, but it's hard to argue that it's a better poker laptop. Good option if you're trying to save money and don't mind the display limitations.

They aren't just jacking up the price for prestige. |
