One of my favorite hands (archived post)
Hi all, it seems like the LHE forums have been a little slow lately, so I figured I'd repost a link to this thread from over a year ago (thanks to one of my friends who is trying to learn the game and dug up this link) since it's IMO one of the more interesting hands I've ever played, and a few of you have been on this forum less than a year and may have never seen it:
This one might be interesting Anyway, happy pokering (and if any of you others are big into reading archived posts I'd encourage you to link a fav of your own in this thread)! |

Hmm, I missed that hand last year. To me, a river check raise is WAY better than your play on the off chance UTG is ahead. You could even fold a 5 in fish's hand.
I don't usually like a lot of river bluff situations, but this one seems just right..... |

Re: One of my favorite hands (archived post)
Interesting thread; thanks for (re)posting it. I've been going through the archives the post few days, and what strikes me the most is the evolution of the game.
Sometimes, the obvious isn't necessarily the best I'll link a few more after I get some sleep. Hopefully, they'll actually be interesting to others. |

Re: One of my favorite hands (archived post)
I think itīs a call. If you isolate the action to only the flop round your EV will be higher by raising, but calling is much more likely to generate situations with good EV on the turn or river, which more than makes up for losing a little on the flop.
Either player is drawing pretty slim when you are ahead and they have pretty bad reverse implied odds on some of the cards they may think improves their hand when you hold a flushdraw. They could improve to 2-pair, set or a straight while you hit the flush. I guess they are worse if you raise, rather than call AND you get coldcalled because your hand is more likely to look like a draw when you call and posibly raise on a flush turn, but you just dont get coldcalled that often on this board by hands you wanted to be coldcalled by, which are hands that can improve to 2-pair, sets or straights, are drawing thin and get get there while you make a flush. |

I'snt betting that river better than c/c? I just don't get a c/c there. I'd understand a c/r maybe, but betting seems better.

I like Schneids explanation for c/c the river. It is better to face UTG w/ an over call than being the first one to call a bet from schneids.
