Re: how much $$$ for taken domain?
If they're making money from type-in traffic then it's going to cost you a crapload. If they're just using it for like 404 or popup traffic or it isn't SE optimized then probably not much ($50-$100) because they could easily grab a new domain and do the same thing.

Dear Sir, We would like to thank you for your email. We have owned this domain since we started a business in the USA. We have been using this since we started out several years ago. Therefore,we had no plans of selling it. But,we are willing to sell it at $50,000USD if you want to purchase it. If you agree to this, please log in www.escrow.com to start the transaction. Please take a note that incidental fees shall be shouldered by the buyer. Upon receipt of the final notice from escrow.com regarding the transaction, we shall immediately transfer the domain name to you. Please be informed that we have received other offers from the USA and we shall attend to the earliest buyer. [/ QUOTE ] so much for that great idea. |

Re: how much $$$ for taken domain?
These sites that have links on them make money via pay per click. Each time someone goes to their site and clicks a link they make money. They might sell the site for up to 60 times their monthly average income. 18 to 24 times the monthly revenue is probably more closer to the going rate for these type of domains.
Keep in mind, although Google doesn't like to admit it, click fraud is very rampant and can be as high as 25% of all clicks. That is why they are going to eventually have to move to Cost Per Action. The advertiser does not pay Google unless a specific action takes place. For example, if someone clicks on a poker ad, the advertiser does not pay Google unless the user actually downloads the software. Hence it being called Cost Per Action. The action being downloading the software. A lot of suckers are buying domains right now for very high prices, but once the shift to cost per action takes place, the revenue stream will not be the same. |
