Default We don\'t care about the shorty

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ Hero (6 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: 2+2 Forums)

CO: 45/16 and WSD/W$SD of 37/37 after 100 hands.

SB ($15.58)
Hero ($118.57)
UTG ($144.15)
MP ($98.50)
CO ($114)
Button ($99.50)

Preflop: Hero is BB with A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. SB posts a blind of $0.50.

UTG folds, MP folds, CO limps, BTN folds, SB minraises, I reraise to $8, CO insta-calls, SB 4-bets to $14 and has $1.xx left. Now, I really don't care about him anymore, ie, no point isolating him and forcing the CO out with yet another raise to $24 (or whatever), right? My main goal right now should be to get the stack of the CO. If I just call he will call for sure, and the pot will be $42 on the flop, with the CO having $100 left in his stack and me covering him. However, I would be committed at that point, meaning he has insane odds to draw to a set/whatever. So I'm a bit confused as what I want to do here. Do I want to take a probable safe route and win a $37 pot with my aces, or do I want to gamble? For all I know the CO could have KQs and lose his whole stack with TP. And, he may call a 5-bet by me making things prrtty sweet. I'm lost.

Chances are, he's not folding to your bet. I would pop it up 3x and proceed to the flop.

Ok. But why do you "just raise"?

Yah, that was my thinking too. He limped then called a min raise and a 3-bet to 8BB without blinking. We kind of must assume that he's
a) not too good, and
b) likes his hand

So instead of giving him VERY good odds, regardless of his holding, we bump it up and hope that he will come along?
