Best Poker Books to buy in Stars FPP Store
I'm sure this forum gets lots of repeat questions, so I did my best to search out this topic before starting a thread...If I've missed an appropriate thread, please point me there.
I have about 5,000 FPPs I'd like to spend at Stars, and I thought a few books might be a good way to go. I've made a list of books they have that I'm interested in and I don't already own: <ul type="square"> Tournament Poker...Tom McEvoy Championship No-Limit & Pot Limit Hold Em...Tom McEvoy and T.J. Cloutier The Making of a Poker Player...Matt Matros No Limit Hold 'Em...David Sklansky and Ed Miller Getting Started in Hold'em...Ed Miller Psychology of Poker...Alan Schoonmaker with Consultant David Sklansky Harrington on Hold'em, Vol I: Strategic Play...Dan Harrington and Bill Robertie Harrington on Hold'em, Vol II: The Endgame...Dan Harrington and Bill Robertie Harrington on Hold'Em Volume III: The Workbook...Dan Harrington and Bill Robertie Kill Phil...Blair Rodman and Lee Nelson Ace on the River...Barry Greenstein Fundamentals of Poker...Lynne Loomis and Mason Malmuth The Book of Bluffs...Matt Lessinger Mathematics of Poker...Chen and Ankenman Why You Lose at Poker...Russell Fox and Scott T. Harker Mastering No-Limit Hold'em...Russell Fox and Scott T. Harker[/list]I currently play Shorthanded FL, mostly 1/2. I already own most of the limit books Stars has, as well as a couple of others I left off the list. I'd eventually like to branch out into tournament and/or no-limit play, so I wouldn't mind starting a library in those topics. What reccomendations does anyone have if I were to pick 3 titles from the list above? Thanks! |

Re: Best Poker Books to buy in Stars FPP Store
if youre going to go into tournament play, the harrington of holdem series is a must.
mathematics of poker might be a cheap pickup for 1k fpp, but people who are better at math would get more out of it |

I agree with the previous gentleman. The Harrington books would be a perfect addition to your library and would speed up your tournament understanding by years.

If you have no NLHE tourney experience then KP is a decent value at 1000 FPPs. That book and HOH 1&2 were very helpful to me.

Stay away from the McEvoy books. That is all.

Barry Greenstein's is really good too... but it's not a strategy book. An excellent read, but yeah start with HoH and NLHETAP
Mathematics... is also good. You could probably live without any of the others. |

Ace on the River - beautiful book, full of wonderfull full color pictures, a must for poker players coffee table. Not a how-to by the numbers strategy book but shows how a player at the highest level thinks about things. |

I've randomly got 1k FPPs to spend which just appeared in my account. I've already bought Maths... any love for book of bluffs or Mastering No-Limit Hold'em?
I wish Largay's book was available. |
