Ways to pnish a weak player to your left
I was wondering how some of you deal with a calling machine to your left. Especially in a situation where it gets folded around to you on SB or button, is limping in with less then premium hands a good idea, where if you hit a flop you can maximize your profits? Also what is your raising philiosphies with this same player holding premium hands? Arguements of pot building and maximizing profit and when to push this type of player out(which usually takes a huge bet)

I don't like when people talk about 'punishing' these types of players.
I think the word 'profit' should be used. How can you most profit from them? Get a hand, and bet, bet, bet. |

Re: Ways to pnish a weak player to your left
Well, a leak of mine is getting an idea into my head about a player to my left and then pushing my luck by cbetting & 2nd barrelling too often/at the wrong moment and getting caught. This is especially true if you catch a bit of the flop.
Consequence: session ruined. So I try to concentrate extra-hard on not being a dumba$$ whenever I go after him. |

I was wondering how some of you deal with a calling machine to your left. [/ QUOTE ] Come on, use your brain cells for a while. This one isn't very difficult to figure out. What do calling stations do? They call. A lot. Too often. So, if you want to make a profit from someone who's calling too often, how could you do that? Make him call when he shouldn't. When is calling costing him money? When he's behind and doesn't get correct odds for his draw. So, think about it, should you play more (marginal & weak) hands against him? |

Learn from our mistakes. You aren't playing to punish another player, you're playing to take his money. I've lost many $$$ trying to teach calling stations and maniacs a lesson. Don't alter the way you play for these guys, just make sure they are paying a high price to play their marginal hands against you. |

Re: Ways to punish a weak player to your left
Another way to profit from them is to elevate your value bets slightly. For instance a typical value bet from me is usually in the 1/2 to 3/4 size sometimes even up to potsize depending on the texture of the board. With the calling station, I will bet it for 3/4 to as much as 1-1/2 the pot.
