Targeting Lower Chest muscles
Diagram: http://www.muscleblitz.com/173e4d60.jpg
I am interested in developing the bottom of my chest. I do mostly inclined, so my chest has an imbalance. The diagram suggests declined, however my gym has no such press. What are alternate exercises for targetting lower chest. side question; i do pavel's 5x5. I'v just started lifting and am a skinny mofo. how wide should the gap be between my first 5 reps and my last 5? (for bench). Im doing inclined about 210lb first 5, and then end up around 160 or 175 last 5. also, im on machines. so yeah. pussy, i know. should i switch to free? |

Re: Targeting Lower Chest muscles
Do dips and cable crossovers.
Use free weights for the bulk of your lifting. |

[/ QUOTE ] Don't worry about "developing the bottom of your chest". You'll get stronger and bigger quickly as a beginner, don't worry about how big your guns are. Also, yes get off machines, work legs etc. |

Re: Targeting Lower Chest muscles
Why not just do flat presses and be done with it? They'll make your chest plenty big if you work hard.

Re: Targeting Lower Chest muscles
The "lower pecs" can't really be isolated, and it turns out that a wide grip flat bench press actually produces more electrical activity (in EMG studies) on the sternocostal (lower) head than the decline bench. The shape of your pecs is largely a function of genetics, however.
