Re: PGA Tour Card Question?
#2) top 125 keep their card as "fully exempt". 126-150 have conditional status.
#1) we did in 1998 |

Quote: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- #2) conditional status. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- explain [/ QUOTE ] 126-150 on the money list will have conditional status, meaning they may get into some of the events that many players choose to skip. PGA tour qualifiers, and Nationwide qualifiers also have conditional status (although it's commonly called "fully exempt". Past PGA tour winners, veterans that have made a certain amount of money or cuts, also have conditional status. Each tourney will go down the list of fully exempt, then conditional players untill the field is full. Conditional players have the chance to move up in conditional status (within their category) by making more money than the other players in their category. As for tour school, I went 13 (i think) times, made the finals once. Each year I played the scores were lower. About 30% would make it through first stage, then about 30% would make it through 2nd stage, then top 35 and ties out of about 180 at the finals. Now, I think a fourth stage has been added, and fewer make it out of the finals (25 maybe). Fairly brutal. |

Re: PGA Tour Card Question?
I'm pretty sure there wasn't a fourth stage last year. What year did you make it? Has the final stage always been six rounds?

[/ QUOTE ] Gotta love the internet, you have no idea about final stage yet you're telling someone(JTrout) who's been through the grinder that there wasn't a 4th stage last year? Just out of curiosity, what makes you say that? Wild guess? FWIW, last year the PGA Tour implemented a pre-qualifying stage to further weed out the bad apples. If memory serves, they planned on implementing this in 2005 and it was on the application, but for some reason it didn't happen. So yes, there are now four stages although depending on a players status he can be exempt into 1st, 2nd or 3rd stage. BO |

Re: PGA Tour Card Question?
I think there is a new pre-qualifying, which you can get out of by having someone from you'r minitour write a letter or something. Not sure of the details but I have a friend who tried for the first time last year and was telling me something like this.

Re: PGA Tour Card Question?
Daly will likely get a number of Sponsors Exemptions, plus entry into a couple of tournaments he's won under the Past Champion category. Thus, no matter what he'll still be playing in at least 12, maybe 15 tournaments next year.
126-150 will get into a number of events where there are dropouts, events which top players don't play, and events opposite majors such as the Reno Tahoe etc. At the moment Daly is pretty far behind what it would take to get into the top 125, and needs a few decent cuts made to even contend for top 150. |

Re: PGA Tour Card Question?
JTrout,
What year did you get through all stages of Q School. Just read John Feinsteins' book called Q School the 5th Major (or something like that). Great book for people who like reading that sort of thing. |
