Default Best Stock Screener?

I've been lucky enough to have access to ValueLines Basic Edition, and stock screener, however that only screens the Value Line Universe of stocks.

Any consensus of "the best" screener out there?

The one on Yahoo has always done what I needed.

I've also used Damodaran's data at times. He compiles an excel sheet with 80 or so statistics about >7000 publicly traded companies and updates it relatively frequently. If the prepack screeners don't do what you need you should be able to squeeze any information you're looking for out of that.

Site: http://pages.stern.nyu.edu/~adamodar...Page/data.html
US most recent data: http://www.stern.nyu.edu/~adamodar/p...s/compfirm.xls

The last update was in January. It's probably still suitable for datamining trends or narrowing down a smallish group of stocks that fit a certain criteria.

Businessweek used to have a really awesome screener, but its dead now and I just use the tools on ameritrade. They are ok.

I've found the screener on Reuters to be the most functional (although not the most user-friendly). It did require registering for a free account at Reuters to use. I just checked back to the site and noticed they now have a "Power Screener" tool that requires a paid subscription and the regular screener is now called "Power Screener Lite"

Link to Screener (requires free registration)

Despite having access to a Bloomberg, I used AAII's Stock Investor Pro for years. It allows you to screen on pretty much any income statement, cash flow statement, balance sheet, or stock price variable or create your own variables using formulas. Also has market and industry data. For the price it's very, very good. I didn't subscribe the last couple of years only because the boss finally forked out the $$,$$$ for Compustat.
