2 river beats in a row in micro limit - can I avoid these situations?
I understand that people on this board hate people talking about suckouts and bad beats here but i am trying to figure out ways in order to prevent these. This losing streak is driving me nuts. I have to be doing something wrong. Here are two hands in a row:
Poker Stars Limit Holdem Ring game Limit: $0.10/$0.2 9 players Converter Pre-flop: (9 players) hammerva is Button with 6[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 6[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 4 folds, MP3 calls, CO folds, hammerva calls, SB calls, BB checks. Flop: A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 7[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (4SB, 4 players) SB checks, BB checks, MP3 checks, hammerva bets, 2 folds, MP3 calls. Turn: 6[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (3BB, 2 players) MP3 checks, hammerva bets, MP3 calls. River: 5[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (5BB, 2 players) MP3 bets, hammerva calls. Results in white: A 9 hearts Should I have checked on the flop with the ace on the board? Is this board to scary to throw a bet on the turn? I know I can't raise because everyone is checking around me so i am limited. Poker Stars Limit Holdem Ring game Limit: $0.10/$0.2 10 players Converter Pre-flop: (10 players) hammerva is CO with 8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] UTG calls, UTG+1 folds, UTG+2 calls, MP1 (poster) checks, MP2 folds, MP3 calls, hammerva raises, 2 folds, BB calls, UTG calls, UTG+2 calls, MP1 calls, MP3 calls. Flop: K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 4[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 3[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (12.5SB, 6 players) BB checks, UTG checks, UTG+2 checks, MP1 checks, MP3 checks, hammerva bets, BB calls, UTG folds, UTG+2 calls, MP1 calls, MP3 folds. Turn: T[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (8.25BB, 4 players) BB checks, UTG+2 checks, MP1 checks, hammerva bets, 2 folds, MP1 calls. River: 2[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (10.25BB, 2 players) MP1 checks, hammerva bets, MP1 raises, hammerva calls. Results in white: Final pot: 14.25BB Hand A 5 off Pretty much the same thing as previous hand except I did raise pre-flop. Looking bad I have no idea if this was a bad beat or someone trump my suckout on the river. I don't know I just wish I can learn to fold on the river. Such a stupid play to call a bet when someone checks the whole time and then bets or raises on river. YOu are beat about 95% of the time here. |

Yeah. Seriously, assuming even a decent winrate, how much can one make playing 10/20 cent limit? ick
Doesn't Stars have like .01/.02 NL? that'd be 82345728x better for your mental health. And it's extremely easy to beat because everyone there is either about 5 IQ points higher than play money or just a NL200 player blowing off steam. I've probably lost like $140 there in my life =/ |

Re: 2 river beats in a row in micro limit - can I avoid these situati
My account balance was in the $15 range so i thought .25/.50 limit was too much. Yeah I should have played NL at these rates but after 3 days in a row of losing sessions (at 6.50 buy in), I just wanted to have one winning session. Stupid stubbornness I guess.
