Question regarding * lapsing
On 7/1 I PM'ed NT, reminding him it had been four months since my last post in OOT. Further, I made it clear I had no intentions of posting in the OOT sub-forum again.
I felt that four months of not posting in OOT, as well as a pledge to keep well away, might be sufficient to warrant removal of one or both of my stars. It has been two weeks, and I have received no reply from NT either by PM or by a change in my star status. I presume, therefore, that my initial assumption was incorrect and four months is not sufficient. Is there a more usual time period that must pass before a star is allowed to lapse? While I haven't posted in OOT in four months, there are several sub-forums that I am highly active in. Naturally if I am not active in OOT, there is nothing to prompt NT to remove my stars if he is ever so inclined. Further, other mods respect his right to star those he wishes when he wishes. Therefore it would never occur to them to remove my stars. Is it considered bad form to petition a mod from a sub-forum I am active in to change my star status in this case? Or should I simply re-petition NT after six months have passed without my posting in OOT? |

Re: Question regarding * lapsing
How many edits did you make to this post before you posted it?
It seems like you are trying a little too hard. |

Re: Question regarding * lapsing
dude it's a star (well 2 in your case). Why the hell do you care if you're not posting in OOT anymore?

Re: Question regarding * lapsing
Because in 150 posts I'll be a Pooh-Bah. Or rather, I won't be.
If my stars go away after that, I'll have quite a wait with no title before Carpal\'Tunnel sets in. |

Re: Question regarding * lapsing
You sound like you take yourself way too seriously.
Perhaps you can find a new home in the Politics forum? |

Re: Question regarding * lapsing
It seems like if you just had one star maybe we should feel bad for you. You happened to make a crappy post in a crappy forum and displeased a crappy mod. Whatever.
But two stars? That's the sign of a real tard. That'd be like voting for George Bush the second time around. "Fool me once, shame on me. Fool me twice, won't get fooled again." |

Re: Question regarding * lapsing
4 months is about right to ask to have your *'s removed. PMing NT was also the correct way to get them removed. The usual reasons for a request like this being ignored is that a different OOT mod gave you the *'s, he felt you were particulary stupid and should keep the *'s longer, or it just slipped his mind. My bet is its the last one.

Re: Question regarding * lapsing
Don't custom titles go away on their own when users reach a new landmark post count? Aren't the *s just custom titles?
If so, then OP's problem is its own solution. |
