Correct to fold here? NL10 - QQ
Villain was 12/12 but only after 35 hands, so it's a very small sample. Still, I thought I was beat here.

Final Pot: $7.70 Even preflop I thought I might be beat, but decided to just call to hope to set mine since I figure he will push his stack in regardless of the board. It's possible that this hand was AK, but I figure villain was overbetting the pot hoping I had the big pair that I had. Most people (at this level) would easily call this and get busted. I just didn't expect to see a hand that I could beat (except maybe AK). I don't think he would have 3bet with JJ. Ideas? |

You don't have the odds to call for a set.

Should he have folded pf then?

As wattascoop pointed out, should I have folded here preflop then?

Re: Correct to fold here? NL10 - QQ
He plays only 12% of his hands and raised UTG then re-raised you. It's obvious what villain has here isn't it? Since the reraise is more than than 10% of your stack, calling is in violation of the 5/10 rule.
Bob Ciaffone's PL & NL Poker: "When contemplating calling a raise because your position is good, you have a clear call if the raise is less than 5% of your stack, and a clear fold if it is more than 10%. In between those numbers, use your judgement." It's a good rule for calling a preflop raise with a pocket pair in hopes of hitting a set. This concept takes into account the implied odds of a given situation. AC |

Re: Correct to fold here? NL10 - QQ
Shove or fold preflop. I think his position, stats and preflop play are a pretty strong indication of AA or KK, so I'm probably folding. As others have pointed out, there's no value in set hunting here, so shove preflop if you think there's a decent chance you're ahead of his range... otherwise, fold.

Calling and shoving any J high flop is better than shoving pf if you think his range is QQ+ AK. |

Re: Correct to fold here? NL10 - QQ
Still, folding is probably best (pre flop)
