A question about Harrah's comp system

Harrah's has a comp system that is unlike all the other casinos. I don't know how they rate poker players, but I do know that they offer poker room rates, so I assume they rate them somehow.

They keep track of everything you do, i.e., you can earn harrah's points just for buying something in the gift shop.

I'm trying to figure out what it would take to rack up 250,000 points in Harrah's comps.

Anyone know?

And does anyone know what they give poker players? I've heard 6 hours a day is standard for getting a poker room rate, but haven't had this confirmed.

Also, on a side note, I'm really surprised at how easily it is to get something small comped at the Wynn, i.e., lunch, beverages, etc, but at the Bellagio it's nearly impossible.

They also use their player tracking system to keep records of players they don't like. You can tell when Harrah's has you on it's sh-t list. For the most simple of casino transactions -- "Could you wait a moment, I'll get Mr.., there seems to be a problem". Harrah's can be vindictive and mean spirited with that tracking system.

i'm a Harrah's diamond level, thanks to my vid poker leak, but, as far as I know, Harrah's Rewards card player system does not track/rate live poker play, tournament buy-in's etc...only on table games & slots.

My belief is that Harrahs poker room related comps/hotel poker player rates are unique to whatever the specific property wants to do for you based on poker room/tournament participation play.

The Harrahs TR system generates award credits, and tier credits. Tier credits rate your card level, e.g., gold, platinum, diamond, seven stars. It takes 10,000 tier credits in a year for diamond. To generate the 250K that you mentioned, if you mean in tier credits, that would equal, in one calendar year, $2.5M coin in for vid poker, or $1.25M for slots, and for table games obv. a function of bet size and hours played...so, if you did 250K tier credits in a year, that would put you at Seven Stars level, their highest card level & you wouldn't have to worry about paying a poker room rate or any rate at all. Award credits you can use to pay for food, rooms, etc. Never bothered to figure out how they calc those, since they sometimes award multipliers or bonuses based on play/certain days a week, etc.

I can say with certainty that at Harrah's AC properties poker players earn tier credits. I am platinum level since I didnt get a total Rewards card until October of last year and will easily clear Diamond this year (I play only poker but my wife is a slot machine fiend). I am a bit of a nit with regards to tracking the tier score (available online). Before leaving the casino I check the current tier score by inserting the card into a slot machine. After getting home I check the tier score online and it will usually match the slot machine reading initially but within 24 hours it goes up. This increase is the "poker day" being closed out and the appropriate tier credits being added. Anyhow, long way of saying that in AC, Harrah's properties award 10 tier credits per hour played.

And I can say with fair certainty that no Vegas Harrah's property I play in gives you any credit of any sort on your Total Rewards card. Harrah's, Bally's, Caesars all keep the comps in the poker room only and nothing at all shows up on your card. Which totally sucks... I wanna earn comps at wherever and spend 'em wherever else without having to get a written comp from the poker room. Archaic system.

No reward or tier credit points can be earned at any Horseshoe property for poker play. Getting a comp for a buffet or snack bar just requires you have a pulse however. You can basicly walk in, get on a list, ask for a comp, and pooof.

Played at Caesars Indiana Friday and they said they don't take Players Cards any more. They then ignored me when I tried to ask about it. Used to hand out cheap $6.00 to $9.00 food comps for 5-6 hour play. Caesars Indiana also has the highest rake in the country. Thanks Caesars.

They will just hand you a $6 food comp if you ask.

They are switching to a new system so they are not swiping cards at the moment. Rumour has it, the new system will track your play like a table game (obviously lower amounts of comps for the same hours) and you will earn comps based upon your play.

Their rake is pretty strong, but when you are the only game in town....

I'm diamond there, but Harrah's has the worst comp system in the world for players. If you went, to Wynn for example and lost $5,000 in an hour you'd be sure to get a full comp at SW and could happily charge without a problem and even order a couple hundred dollar bottle of wine. At Harrah's you can only charge up to a certain dollar amount, probably a couple hundred bucks total! Sure you can talk to a host and maybe he can comp it, but for the most part not many other casinos are as bad as Harrah's properties (although they do have decent mailings)

Harrah's is designed for mid-rollers. The Total Rewards system was created before they bought the Caesars empire, back when Harrah's LV and Rio were the peak of their properties. While all the other properties have diamond lounges, I noticed on a map of Caesars that they have a separate 7-stars lounge. I'd guess Caesars generates a large fraction of their 7-stars players.

They have clamped down on giving out diamond cards. I used to get a diamond card by sitting down at a 99.5+% video poker machine and dropping $18000 through it in a day. 1800 points in a day and they handed you a diamond card, expected cost was <$100 (and one year I found a >100% payout VP machine to use). That doesn't work anymore. This year they require 3000 points in a day, and they will not let you renew a diamond card this way--the only way to continue as a diamond is to earn 10,000pts in a year. I don't do anything close to this sorta -EV gambling so I'll never see the inside of a diamond lounge again.
