Default Batting Practice - Tee Work

As suspected, my swing has become loopy and long. Evidence:

Bleh. It would explain the trouble with above-average fastballs in the games and my sudden ability to crush curveballs. Most of my extra-base hits have been against off-speed pitches.

Well, something else to look at. (Like there wasn’t enough already)

It looks like your back arm/elbow is extending out towards the ball too early. You should be rotating your hips and then extending your arms as the bat contacts the ball. Keeping your back elbow close to your body allows you to take a shorter path to the ball. If your going after an outside pitch obviously you'll have to get your arms out there earlier in addition to upper-body tilt.

Maybe play around with keeping your back elbow in closer to your body longer, "rotating" the bat towards the ball and then extending your arms after the bat has taken a short path to the ball.

That back foot shouldnt be coming forward.

I think your dropping your back shoulder also which is going to lower your eyes and stuff and make you get under the ball too much.

your swing does look really unnatural and it looks like you would have a hard time getting any power.

Take this with a grain of salt, Little League is as far as my baseball experience goes...But I don't think I've ever seen a good swing that started with the back foot lifting off the ground first, or at all really.

The back foot is irrelevant for the most part as proved by most swing analyses. For proof, check out the irregularities in the swings of Edgar Renteria, Roberto Clemente, and Manny Ramirez.

i've played high school ball and I was always able to get out of a slump if I worked on exploding from my hips.

Almost looks like you are pulling the bat thru with your shoulders. Maybe your front shoulder is opening up too soon and causing the bat to drag thru the zone. Its only one swing.

Try to, as a drill, keep your body (especially shoulders) square and swing the bat by just pulling the bat thru with your hands(knob to the ball).
