Default FT NL100: turned straight facing river push on paired board

Hey All. Long-time lurker, first time poster. I play on FullTilt and have recently moved up to NL100 from NL50. I've been reading posts for long enough and plan on posting some hands now. I'm a winning player but really need to improve my hand-reading skills, bet amounts, etc. Looking for all the help I can get...

I tend to run about 24/13/3. Villain is 23/6/4 (340 hands, mostly mined).

Help on all streets appreciated. Thanks!

Hi,

please don't run about 24/13 - that's pretty bad.

Hand looks good. Probably raise a little bit more on the turn, but it doesn't matter too much as villain is short, so you shouldn't have too many problem getting it in on any river and deny him implied odds to fill up.
I'd just push the river myself, i wouldn't want him to check behind with overpairs or 87 or whatsoever. If he had you beat it's just a cooler and there's nothing you can do against it.

Everything is fine until the river, when you should just push yourself.

Push river, he's calling way more hands than he's pushing. I like the turn raise. If villain had 100bb I would have raised to 30 though.

Thanks for the replies. I'm curious about my PT stats being bad. Am I not raising enough compared to how much I'm calling preflop? VPIP too high? What's a decent ratio to shoot for?

Calling too much. I call IP with small pairs, SCs, and suited 1 gappers almost always (when I don't 3 bet), and still run at 22/18. There has to be some mediocre holdings you're coldcalling with too much.

Yeah, you're probably calling a bit too much preflop. I run at 23/13 at some types of table, but on average I play like 23/17. And I call more than the forum norm. Aiming at something like 18/15 or even more nitty to begin with is probably ok.
