Villain is 27/6/4.25 over 150
I had been pretty damn tight due to total lack of hands. My stack: 5400 Villains: 13100 I am button holding K [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] K [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] Villain is CO. Open limp from villain was not scary/unusual. Blinds 100/200. Preflop: Folds to CO, CO calls 200, hero raises to 800, blinds fold, CO calls. Flop A [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] J [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] T [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] CO checks, hero checks. I decided at this point that continuation betting wasn't optimal for a few reasons. First of all the hands i'm beating are mostly auto folding, and the ones i'm behind are never folding. Also by checking i might get him to fire some of the stuff that we're ahead, and really on the turn theres not a whole lot in the way of scare cards. Turn: 8 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] CO fires 1800, hero quickly calls. I thought making a quick call was important here. I didn't want villain to think i had something to consider at all and have him make a big river bet at me. River: T [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] CO checks, hero checks. Thoughts? |

pretty gross imo. Your turn quick call represents exactly what you have and shows a lot of weakness, and any decent player will see right through what you are trying to do. He's probobly more likely to fire riv as a bluff after that, but probobly won't bluff either way because of your stack. Turn call is pretty debateable IMO with ur stack, and river is an autocheck because shoving would be bluffing and you arn't folding better hands. Most of the time you lose to A rag though, and if I had to guess specifcally, A8. That's why turn is bad IMO.

New poster here so please bear with me if I am spewing nonsense.
When the villian bets the turn and checks the river, what hands are you putting him on? I would think his most likely holdings are AJ or a pp lower than the board. If that is the case, aren't you leaving potential chips on the table by not value betting the river? |

another problem, wouldn't a 27/6 be limping a lot of aces?

[/ QUOTE ] Nope, because AJ calls and worse PPs fold. So either you lose all your chips or fold out hands that would lose to you anyways after you check down. |

Villain will fold an A to a river push about .0001% of the time.

I also agree that the villain is not folding aces to a river push very often. I like the way that you played the hand Bond. Pf and flop are obviously automatic. I could find a fold because your stack sizr on the turn but I don't dislike your call either with 6 outs to improve River is standard, I fold if he pushes the river |

I think this was fine on all streets.
I could possibly fold the turn bet considering your stack size, but I hate automatically giving him credit for the A here as folding just seems really weak. You still have 14BB if you lose the hand, so call seems fine. |
