Default TTOP - Bluffing Strategy

Chapter 19 discusses bluffing strategy, and I have reread it a few times, and whilst I understand what he is saying, I am left puzzled to what the hell you are supposed to do with it.

A few questions poised are:

If the optimal bluffing strategy is to match the pot odds offered, how on earth do you set your strategy out to a variable ? ie pot odds never the same. So if your giving the opponent 3/1 pot odds do you bluff if your last 4 hands weren't ? Seems TOO theoretical too me.

The theory of optimal strategy relates to playing the same player or same hand. This is nice if you can get it, but what are you supposed to do in the real world ?

I am drawing to the conclusion that this section of the book is a great read if your looking back on your play but to use it to maximise your play in the first instance is impossible. Should I just accept the concept an move on or have I missed something that I should be adapting to?

Regards
