when you call the river bet, you are really hoping he is a dumb bluffer. The best you are probably looking at is a chop, and this isn't often enough.

I'm assuming you have reads that this guy is too aggro for his own good and might go nuts with AQ or AJ?

Bad, and no!

But maybe you can explain your reasoning behind each decision and we could get something straightened out here.

My statement translates to: "You forgot about reads."
If the guy is a maniac the calldown makes sense. If the guy is a rock then you're throwing away bets. If it was unknown it'd be somewhere in the middle.

I dont know what I was thinking to be honest, he was an unknown.

I 3-bet preflop because it seems like I should 3bet with AK. I raised the flop to isolate and possibly catch a free river. Turn I called because I figure I still have outs, and river I called only because I thought I had showdown value which doesnt make sense when all I beat is a bluff, but pot odds were good?

You should.

Pot odds are good on the river if you think he's bluffing 1 in ~9 times. I'm don't think you are since this looks like an overpair to me. Since the pot got big, the turn call is good though.

preflop 3-bet is standard and flop raise is probably OK. When he donks the turn he says "I like my JJ" or whatever, so you are calling based on 6 outs. This is correct assuming he has QQ or less. We would expect him to cap AA/KK preflop and even be more aggressive on this flop.

I don't raise this flop.

Depending on the villain, the turn card, and whether BB calls, I might raise the turn for a free showdown.
