Problem with videos on websites(youtube)

I'm using the new firefox as my browser and whenever I watch a youtube or cardplayer video my computer slows down tremendously. I can still use it but everything is much slower, and I can hear the computer working(fan maybe?). I think there might be some plugin or something that I need to update. Does anyone have any ideas as to what could cause this?
