Default Hammocks?

I've never had a hammock, but i want one.

Is canvas or rope better? A stand or from a tree?

How's something like this?

How much is your hammock worth to you? A hammock seems like the epitome of summer to me.

It's hard to find a suitable spot but rope + trees is >>> than stand + canvas IME.

I would consider myself a hammock expert.

A rope hammock is much more durable, but the most comfotable hammock is a string mayan hammock, like this one:
Mayan Hammock

They are so money. It's so easy to fall asleep in one, but they typically get holes in them within a year.

i have a rope hammock hung in the shade between two trees, and I spent hundreds of hours laying in the hammock and reading last year.

You want a small pillow for a rope hammock, and it's great. I've never tried a mayan hammock. I agree that trees > stand.

I have worked in a sporting goods store for the last 10 years and have sold a great deal of hammocks. And my advice is don't buy cheap! OP, the hammock in your link looks decent, but is a fairly cheap hammock w a weak stand. The link to the Mayan that Solids provides is a great hammock. I would recomend going to your local sporting goods store and trying out a couple before buying. BTW, they are on of the greatest summer time pleasures. Good luck with your search.

I just hooked this one up in my back yard and it's the absolute best thing I've ever experienced ... rope + trees ftw.
